In game 3 of the evening, the top-seeded Lady Mountaineers of Mitchell defeated the #4 seed Mountain Heritage by a 40-31 final score. Mitchell led in a defense-driven first half by the score of 17-16.Heritage led 20-19 early in the third quarter, but an 11-3 Mitchell run in the final three and a half minutes of the third period built a 30-22 lead. A buzzer-beater by Heritage brought the Lady Cougars within five at 30-25 at the end of the third period.
Mountain Heritage had open looks inside the paint, but came up short on multiple opportunities early in the final quarter. A basket from Danielle Ayers midway through the fourth cut the lead to a pair at 32-30, but five straight points from Laken Norris keyed an 8-1 Mitchell run to close the game.
