The first Western Highlands Conference title game is in the book and the Lady Vikings of Avery has captured their fifth straight tournament title as they defeated the Madison Lady Patriots 55-33. We will have more information on this contest later this afternoon. Mitchell leads 25 to 20 as we near the halftime break in the JV Boy's Championship contest.
Avery will return to the court at 7:00 or 15 minutes after the JV Boys as the Lady Avery Vikings look to beat the Mitchell Lady Mountaineers in the Varsity boys contest. Madison and Mountain Heritage will square off in the nightcap for the varsity boys title. Stay tuned to the Avery Journal-Times Sports Blog for more information as the night progresses.

6:51: The Mountain Heritage Cougars have just won a thrilling 50-47 contest over the Mitchell Mountaineers in JV boys action. The contest came down to a shot with 30 seconds remaining before Mitchell had to foul.
