Avery High School plays host to this year's Western Highlands Conference varsity basketball tournament semifinals and varsity and JV championship games. Thursday is Varsity day at Viking Gym with four exciting matchups in men's and women's action, and look no further than the AJ-T Sports Blog as your first-hand source for all things WHC.
It's ladies first at 4 p.m. as the #2 seed Avery will have home court advantage as it takes on #3 seed Polk County with a tourney title game berth on the line. The men take the floor next at approximately 5:30 pm as #4 seed Hendersonville plays top-seeded Madison.
Tonight's evening session will be dominated by two schools. At approximately 7 p.m. rivals #4 seed Mountain Heritage takes on top-seeded and state ranked Mitchell in ladies action. The varsity boys teams from the two schools will hook up in the night cap, as #3 seed Mitchell takes on #2 seed Mountain Heritage.
