SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Austin Trotman (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) was named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Year, while Savva Kostis (Boone, N.C./Watauga) joined him in earning all-conference honors, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Trotman becomes the fifth ever Mountaineer and the second-ever sophomore to win wrestler of the year, joining Travis Drake, who won the award as a sophomore in 2001 and again in 2002.

The Winston-Salem native went 21-4 on year and 5-0 in conference action. He began the year at 174 pounds, but moved up to 184 to begin the new year. After losing his first match, he has not lost since, winning 13-straight matches.

His biggest win during the streak was a 10-6 decision over No. 21 Mike Salopek of Virginia. For the year, Trotman has three pins and seven major decisions. Trotman is currently ranked No. 19 in the 184 pound weight class.

Kostis finished the regular-season 20-15 and was also unblemished in SoCon matches. The sophomore leads ASU with nine pins and also had two major decisions.

The Boone, N.C. native has won five of his last seven matches heading into the SoCon Tournament this weekend.

Redshirt freshman Jacob Earp (Boone, N.C./Watauga) was named to the conference all-freshman team. Earp was 12-11 overall with two pins and three major decisions.

ASU is back in action this weekend when they travel to Davidson to compete in the Southern Conference Tournament.
