No. 1 Lees-McRae Suffers First Loss in Final Match of the Regular Season to Pfeiffer, 1-0

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- Pfeiffer University Falcons upset the No. 1 Lees-McRae College Bobcats in men's Conference Carolinas soccer action Saturday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field on a Jeff Cannon header in the fourth minute.

The Bobcats, who clinched the conference title on Wednesday, suffered their first blemish of the season falling to 14-1-1 overall and 8-1-1 in the Conference Carolinas.

Cannon's strike was set up by a Lees-McRae foul just outside the 18-yard box in the fourth minute of play.. Wilver Menacho took the free kick and delivered a cross to Cannon who found the back right post.

Bobcat goalie Sean Paradise made seven saves while, Falcon goalkeeper Alex Moreno stopped three Bobcats shots in the win.

Pfeiffer outshot Lees-McRae 13-9. Six of the Falcons 13 shots came in the first half, while Lees-McRae only had one first half shot.

The Bobcats were called offsides nine times in the match.

The Bobcats hold home-field advantage with the #1 seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, which begin Tuesday as they face St. Andrews at 7 p.m.
