LMC Lady Bobcats Season Ends with Tourney Loss

BELMONT, N.C. - The fifth seeded Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats women's soccer team season ended Thursday in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Semifinals in a 3-0 loss to top seeded Belmont Abbey.

Lees-McRae ends its season with a record of 11-8-1.

Belmont Abbey controlled the game from the start as Celene Molera opened the scoring in the 25th minute. After a Kristin Foster corner kick was partially cleared out, the volley came right to Molera who left footed a shot from a tough angle on the left side past goalkeeper Brittany Bolton for the goal.

Shortly after the second half began, Rebecca Mateo widened the gap to 2-0 at the 57:08 mark. After she got behind the Bobcats defense and fired a low shot. Bolton made the initial save, but Mateo got the rebound and scored.

Alana Ryczek closed the scoring at exactly 75:00 in a goal that was similar to Mateo's. After a Foster shot that was saved by Bolton, the rebound came right to Ryczek, who steadied the ball and fired in a shot into the upper right corner of the net.

Bolton made three saves between the pipes for the Lady Bobcats.

Belmont Abbey outshot Lees-McRae 14-0 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
