Soccer Corrals Mustangs, Meet Knights in State Semifinal Round
On Wednesday evening the Lady Vikings advanced to the state 1A soccer semifinals with a 3-0 win over North Moore. With the win, Avery improved to 19-1-2 overall for the season and set a program record with its third tournament victory.

Avery will return to the pitch on Saturday at 7 p.m. at MacDonald Stadium when it hosts Lake Norman Charter, who defeated Bishop McGuinness 1-0 Wednesday night and is 19-3 on the season. Like Avery, the Knights have not allowed a goal this postseason.

With a victory, Avery will play for its first-ever soccer state championship


Baseball Travels for Third Round Matchup at Murphy
The Avery baseball team travels to Murphy on Friday to take on the top-ranked Bulldogs in the third round of the 1A state baseball playoffs. The game is a rematch from last season's tournament, when Murphy defeated Avery 6-1 in a second round playoff game at Cherokee County.

Avery is coming off a wild 16-14, eight inning victory at Hiwassee Dam. The Bulldogs thus far in the tournament defeated Cherokee 18-0 and upended East Wilkes 9-1 on Tuesday night.
