Vikings Fall to Knights to Open Football Season

Avery trails Robbinsville by a score of 41-14 after three quarters. The game has been in a lightning delay since around 9:30 p.m. The Knights led 35-14 at halftime behind the strong running of Kurt Odom and quarterback play of Blake Anderson.

Avery's Taylor Potter has had a strong defensive game, while Alex Villanueva has scored on a one-yard touchdown run and also thrown a 95-yard touchdown strike to Andy Gonzalez. We'll provide further updates as play warrants.

UPDATE #2: A number of additional lightning sightings over the next 45 minutes impressed upon the coaches of both teams to meet and eventually declare an end to the game after only 3 quarters. Final Score: Robbinsville 41, Avery 14
