The Avery men's soccer team has kicked off the 2008 season with practice this week. Coach Lou Brancourt's club has boasted good turnout, with 20-25 players attending for both morning and afternoon sessions at MacDonald Stadium.The team begins play with the Asheville Jamboree this Saturday in Asheville, where the team will take on Dixon High School and a host of other opponents. On Thursday, August 14th, the team will host a scrimmage with West Wilkes, starting at 7 p.m. Avery's season opener will take place against East Wilkes on Monday, August 18th at Lees McRae College.
