This season, the Avery Vikings junior varsity football team schedule features a pair of Monday evening tilts. The team has played Monday evening contests in previous seasons, but usually due to postponements due to weather or other reasons.
The JV football squad will take on two non-conference contests on Monday evenings. On August 25th, Avery will host Cloudland in a junior varsity contest on the newly renovated field at MacDonald Stadium in Newland. The teams met only in a varsity football game a season ago, so this will be the first tussle at the JV level between the squads since the schools renewed aquaintances on the gridiron.
Three weeks later, on Monday, September 15th, the JV team will travel to Mountain City to tangle with the Johnson County Longhorns at the special kickoff time of 6 pm. The 'Horns defeated Avery in their JV meeting last season in Newland, so the Big Red will be looking for revenge.
