Edwards has Record Setting Day, Apps Dominate Citadel 45-24

The Appalachian State Mountaineers used the legs of Armanti Edwards, who was named National Offensive Player of the Week from The Sports Network and Southern Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, to defeat the Citadel Bulldogs. Edwards had a career day with 291 rushing yards and had touchdown runs of 80 and 25 yards. The 291 yards fell just 18 yards short of the national record of quarterback rushing yards (either division). The Apps took a 31-14 lead at the half as Edwards amassed a total offensive production of 341 yards in the first half alone and a total of 439. The Citadel made a charge as the second half started, scoring the first ten points of the half, but Kevin Richardson took control of the contest. The App defense stood up to the second half challenge to secure the win. The Apps return to "The Rock" on Saturday as they host Western Carolina for the Battle for the Old Mountain Jug.
